April has had a little back and forth with the weather – spring to winter to spring to summer, and all in such a short time. Eva’s project continued including shots at napping home, being photobludgeoned in the tennis courts, bird brained and chilling in the yard and having “tweet dreams” and at the cabin.Continue reading “Eva’s project – April”

26 bridges – the Lego Traffic Bridge
The fifth of my bridge photo project is a bit of an atypical one. The real traffic bridge is in the process of being demolished, but it shall live on in Lego form. A local Lego enthusiast Andre Lalonde has made a five span replica of the bridge, and it is very impressive. Very coolContinue reading “26 bridges – the Lego Traffic Bridge”
Eva’s 2016 project – March
March has come and gone – and with it winter seems to have left. A winter sunrise, ceramic birds, putting a doggy door on the fridge and applying for a job as a bird spotting guide. Another busy month for Eva. Frozen Sunrise Week 10’s photo “frozen sunrise” was taken during a weekend trip toContinue reading “Eva’s 2016 project – March”
Eva’s 2016 project – February
February saw some winter weather, the under side of the Idylwyld bridge and treat catching in Eva’s project. That and she is the only tobogganing dog that I have ever met. Eva and 22 Birds Under Idylwyld Week 6 “Eva and 22 birds under idylwyld” combined Eva’s weekly photo with another mini-project that I amContinue reading “Eva’s 2016 project – February”
Eva’s 2016 project – January
2016 is upon us and it is Eva’s turn to do the weekly photos. She is likely looking forward to the project – as the camera and it’s associated dog treats really get her excited. For the first month of the project – overhead views, a historic bridge, intense eye contact, vintage star wars actionContinue reading “Eva’s 2016 project – January”
26 bridges “rail bridge birds”
The second photo outing of my bridges project yielded four photos that I was quite happy with. I combined this outing with a compositional goal of using triangles in the photos. The bridge that I focused on was the old CPR rail bridge. There were more birds than people out, so they became a secondaryContinue reading “26 bridges “rail bridge birds””
26 bridges – load limit
In 2016 I have decided to do a mini-project on Saskatoon’s bridges. I’m aiming for 26 unique shots of the 7 main bridges in town. One final photo per outing. Eva with the Traffic Bridge The first photo was taken one day before there was demolition on the old traffic bridge. Originally a 5 spanContinue reading “26 bridges – load limit”
Bruno’s 2016 – January & February
The start of the new year means the start of a new dog photo project for me. This year Bruno will be doing a more infrequent monthly project, with up to 3 photos per month. The first January photo “mr. serious” shows Bruno’s serious side. Something that was rare in his 2015 project photos. AlsoContinue reading “Bruno’s 2016 – January & February”
26 bridges – further demolition of the old traffic bridge
And then there was one. Another segment of the traffic bridge in Saskatoon was brought down by explosives today. It was built in 1907 and originally had 5 spans of iron truss bridge. Today only one span remains in place. I will miss this piece of history and hope that the city replaces it withContinue reading “26 bridges – further demolition of the old traffic bridge”
the playmobil photographer
In 2013 I borrowed a Playmobil character from one of my children’s sets for part of a photo project with Kael. This little test shot in 2013 was a random stroke of good luck as I really like how it all came together, with the details of the photographer and the light on the kitchenContinue reading “the playmobil photographer”
Eva’s project – fourth quarter
The final months in Eva’s monthly photo project have finished, and this quarter of the year. A seemingly random collection of photos and events: an occupy living room movement camping, taunting Bruno, a serious portrait, Christmas and snow shoeing on the lake. Occupy This October photo “occupy” showed Eva taking over the fort that myContinue reading “Eva’s project – fourth quarter”
Bruno’s project – December
This is the final month of Bruno’s project. This month saw a little bad behaviour, some time travelling, a Christmas Golden Wreathtriever, and a retrospective look at the past year. Evidence Week 49 “evidence”: This was never the plan for weekly photo, but when Bruno climbed on the table while our baby sitter was lookingContinue reading “Bruno’s project – December”
Bruno’s project – November
November is done, and that only leaves one month left in Bruno’s 2015 project. This month saw the weather transition into winter, and the start of the holiday season. A spider-man toque, some kung fu fighting and Christmas decorations helped make up this month’s photos. That and a reminder to keep calm and hug aContinue reading “Bruno’s project – November”
Merry Britmas
What’s a happy Christmas to a Brittany Spaniel? A Merry Britmas! Starting to get into the Christmas spirit here. We put the tree up the other day, and lets just say that Eva is a bigger fan of baking than decorating. She’s a smart pup. Merry Britmas
cottage life photo contest entries
The cottage is a big part of our life, and I love the time that we spend there every year. Since before we bought a cabin I’ve been subscribing to Cottage Life magazine. They run a nice photo contest every year, and I’ve been fortunate enough to have some of my photos published inContinue reading “cottage life photo contest entries”
new print – “victoria”
Over the next little while I will be changing up some prints displayed in Saskatoon, and making more available for purchase. This “victoria” print and post is a small start towards that. The story behind the photograph The ‘victoria’ print is from a -40c morning in February 2012, with steam rising off the river andContinue reading “new print – “victoria””
dock jumping and a swim – video on youtube
And now I have a youtube channel. Limited content at this time, but a bit of a fun way to share some videos that happen on the way to making the photos. This one is of Bruno wearing the GoPro fetch harness at the cabin. A bit of a fun, jump, swim and shake. It’sContinue reading “dock jumping and a swim – video on youtube”
Top 10 Selfie of 2014 – in Taiwan
Life is strange and you never know what will happen. When I did a selfie of myself and Eva on the paddleboard for her 52 week set, I thought it was an interesting experiment, but likely the last selfie I would upload to flickr. Flickr Taiwan Top Selfies As it turns out, the photo wasContinue reading “Top 10 Selfie of 2014 – in Taiwan”
Eva’s project – March 2014
It’s hard to believe that we’re more than 1/4 of the way through 2014. Eva’s project continues, and she is turning into quite the little model. Looking forward to some more spring-like weather to get fun outdoor pictures in April. The ‘week’ number links back to the original post on Flickr. What Could Be BetterContinue reading “Eva’s project – March 2014”
picking images
One of the first steps moving forward with displaying and selling my photos, is selecting a few images to start with. The following are my favorite monochrome pictures from the past few years, which I feel may appeal to people beyond my family and friends. The posts here are straight from my photo library, andContinue reading “picking images”
