26 Bridges – Winter on the Old CPR Rail Bridge

I have not forgotten about the bridge project, but I have had a little break from it because of a busy schedule.  I did make it out again last week to do some photos at the old CPR rail bridge.  It was a chilly day with wind chill below -30c, but there was hoar frostContinue reading “26 Bridges – Winter on the Old CPR Rail Bridge”

Eva’s project – November

Eva’s project in November saw a bit of a warm November transition into the Christmas season.  It saw a revisit of the “She’s Crazy” shots, off lead in the park, her sniffer, and some cuddles and cocoa. She’s Still Crazy Week 45 “she’s still crazy” was a revisit from Kael’s project in 2013 when EvaContinue reading “Eva’s project – November”

Eva’s project – October

Eva’s project was quite varied in October.  From hanging out under a bridge to finding her published in the Flydogs book and then a trip for me to Rome.  It was a busy time. The Bird Code Week 40 “the bird code” was taken under the Idylwylde bridge. This summer Saskatoon commissioned local born artistContinue reading “Eva’s project – October”

Bruno’s project – September & October

September and October were relatively lean months in Bruno’s project.  A total of three images to show, all of which were from diverse geographical locations.  Bounding out of the lake, kitchen window guard dogs and sitting on a column in Rome. With Great Gusto His September photo “with great gusto” shows what happens when he boundsContinue reading “Bruno’s project – September & October”

Photographing Rome with David DuChemin

I have just returned from an eagerly anticipated trip to Rome.  I traveled by myself to spend a week photographing the eternal city with David DuChemin and a small group of other photographers.  It was a wonderful experience in a beautiful historic city.  The city was good, the weather was great, and the time toContinue reading “Photographing Rome with David DuChemin”

Eva’s project – September

September is done, and saw the transition towards fall.  It also saw four more photos in Eva’s weekly project, including one of an “open can standoff”, the doggy version of a Mexican Standoff. Hood Ornament Week 36 “hood ornament” was the final dock photo of the season.  It was a chilly September long weekend andContinue reading “Eva’s project – September”

Bruno’s project – July & August – Go Jump in a Lake

Much of the summer months in Bruno’s project appear to have happened at Emma lake.  It was a good summer.  Lets just say that when someone tells him to “go jump in a lake”, he takes them very literally. Some People Just Look Good in Hats His first July photo “some people just look goodContinue reading “Bruno’s project – July & August – Go Jump in a Lake”

Moka – prints on display

I am pleased to share that I now have some prints on display and for sale at Moka coffee bar.  Moka is located at 411i Herold Ct in Saskatoon (off Boychuck between the Yellowhead and Taylor Street).  These photos will be on display there until the end of October 2016. When picking photos to display IContinue reading “Moka – prints on display”

Eva’s project – August

Eva’s project is now well over half way done.  August has been another good month here, although it did end a little colder than expected. Eva’s August saw both paddle boarding and ice cream, and no one could ever complain about that. Under Broadway Week 32 “under broadway” is just me hanging out with EvaContinue reading “Eva’s project – August”

new print – “lego date on the traffic bridge”

Even though the real traffic bridge is gone, it does live on in Lego form.  This model was created by Andre Lalonde and has been displayed at the Western Development museum.  I met up with Andre at the WDM and got advance access to the event so I could photograph his amazing bridge model.  OtherContinue reading “new print – “lego date on the traffic bridge””

New Prints – “february 7th, 2016”

This is actually a series of three new prints that I have done up from demolition day for the fourth span of Saskatoon’s Victoria traffic bridge.  I wanted to present these as a series in time to try and convey the suddenness of the explosive demolition, and to focus on that I have titled eachContinue reading “New Prints – “february 7th, 2016””

New print – “frosted”

I have been working on making some new prints, some of them from older images.  Continuing on that theme, I have recently revisited this older photo of the Victoria traffic bridge from February 12th, 2010.  The bridge was intact and functional at the time, and the hoar frost that morning was absolutely beautiful. The FrostedContinue reading “New print – “frosted””

New print – “crossings”

This new print is actually an old picture.  I’m compiling a series of Victoria traffic bridge photos to display at Moka in September.  This one is from when it was intact, and still open to traffic.  It’s a longer exposure photo from December 20, 2009.  Those expensive lights on the bridge are nicely lit upContinue reading “New print – “crossings””

New print “load limit”

I’ve been working on putting together new prints of the Victoria Bridge.  In September I have the opportunity to hang these photos as Moka coffee bar in Saskatoon, and I wanted to focus on the old steel bridge.  These will be a collection of shots ranging from 2009 to present, with the bridge in variousContinue reading “New print “load limit””

Portraits of Stitch – a senior Boston terrier

Stitch is an 11 year old Boston terrier belonging to Serena, one of my friends at work.  He had a bit of a health bump earlier this year, so Serena asked me to do a photo session with him.  I was happy to oblige.  He is a great pup – super handsome and well behaved.Continue reading “Portraits of Stitch – a senior Boston terrier”

Eva’s project – July

July was a good month.  Lots of time spent out of the city at the cabin.  For Eva this meant swimming, canoe rides, and chill time.  I think I captured some of that here. Incognito Week 27 “incognito” was in response to a hats challenge in the 52 weeks group.  Eva has a tiny head,Continue reading “Eva’s project – July”

26 bridges – Circle Drive North

My bridges project continues, and this time it was a little trip to the Circle Drive North Bridge.  A concrete girder bridge at the north end of the city. It was built with two lanes and a walkway on each span, but was later modified to incorporate the pedestrian walkways into traffic lanes and suspend aContinue reading “26 bridges – Circle Drive North”

Eva’s project – June

Hard to believe that the project is now half finished.  June saw a darn good puddle, deal making and dock jumping. The Official Start to Summer Week 23 “the official start of summer” featured a staple of summer in our family – dock diving at the cabin.   No fancy dogversation to go with, asContinue reading “Eva’s project – June”

Bruno’s 2016 project – May and June

May and June have come and gone.  And five more photos have been added to Bruno’s project.  Enjoying what summer has to offer – plus a little light reading.  He really is a good dog. Take Me Out to the Ball Game His first May photo “take me out to the ball game” was fromContinue reading “Bruno’s 2016 project – May and June”

26 Bridges – Circle drive south and the Grand Trunk Rail bridge

I made it out for another photo shoot on the self-imposed 26 bridges project, taking portraits of Saskatoon’s bridges.  This time it was to the Circle Drive South Bridge (recently renamed the Gordie Howe Bridge) and the old Saskatoon Grand Trunk rail bridge.  My goal was a sunset photo of both of the bridges, butContinue reading “26 Bridges – Circle drive south and the Grand Trunk Rail bridge”

Eva’s project – May

May saw some some beautiful spring weather in Saskatoon.  Perfect for a photo project.  Lens flare, fresh grass, Eva’s namesake from WALL-E, and a three part portrait at the lake. Halo Week 19 “halo” was a back-lit photo in the park.  Love the way her crazy ear hair glows in the light, and that smileContinue reading “Eva’s project – May”

Starbucks on Broadway

The Starbucks on Broadway just had a renovation, and the place looks great.  I’ve been fortunate enough to have some photos hanging there since 2014, and I was delighted that they offered me continued display space after the renovation. I took the time to do a little reorganization of the prints on display.  Bruno ofContinue reading “Starbucks on Broadway”

Bruno’s 2016 project – March and April

Two more months of 2016 have sped by, and we transitioned from “the winter that never was” to spring and maybe even summer.  He spent time on a life raft, had an absentee photo while were away, flew like a wizard and ended the month with a Slumber Party.  And as always, Bruno continues toContinue reading “Bruno’s 2016 project – March and April”
