In 2016 I have decided to do a mini-project on Saskatoon’s bridges. I’m aiming for 26 unique shots of the 7 main bridges in town. One final photo per outing.
Eva with the Traffic Bridge
The first photo was taken one day before there was demolition on the old traffic bridge. Originally a 5 span bridge, one was taken down previously, and two spans were set for demolition in early January. I did combine this outing with Eva’s 52 week project – with the runner-up bridge image being of her and the bridge in the background.
Load Limit
The bridge has been blocked off from all traffic for a while now and there were active preparations for demolition so I did not have easy access to the site. To get this shot I held my camera over the top of a 6 foot chain link fence while I had Eva on a leash from my other hand. It was a very cold morning and her coat was apparently not thick enough so her teeth were literally chatting. After grabbing this shot we made a quick departure and headed back to the car with heated seats on high for the drive home.
This load limit picture is my final selection was this cold snowy picture of the load limit sign on the bridge, with a demolition worker barely visible in orange part way down the bridge.
I since re-edited the photo into black an white, which is available as a print for purchase.
