Agnes – March 2018

Agnes’s March photos saw us have a family health scare, some persisting snowfalls and eventually a visit from the Agnes bunny at Easter.

A bump in the road

March started with a fright as we had an emergency hospitalization for my daughter Julia.  She recovered quickly so it was fortunately only a bump in the road.  One thing that always makes her happy is the puppies, even if it is only via iphone photos.  We are so grateful that everything turned out fine in the end.

Reunion

While Julia was in the hospital the dogs stayed with a friend of ours.  Once everyone was home together again, lots of cuddle time needed to be made up for.

Agnes: Hey Julia, I missed you.
Julia: I missed you too.
Agnes: Yup. Really really missed you.
Julia: I missed you lots too.
Agnes: Yup. Going to just hold on to you for a bit.
Julia: That’s nice and all, but what happens when I need to get up to pee?
Agnes: Not an option. We’re cuddling so you need to stay here. Cuddling on the big bed.
Julia: And what happens if someone starts cooking in the kitchen?
Agnes: Someone’s cooking? Really? I love cooking.
Julia: Well not now. It was more of a hypothetical question.
Agnes: Oh my God! Someone’s cooking hypotheticals in the kitchen? I love hypotheticals! I gotta go before Bruno eats all of them without me.

The Running of the Blondes

A shot taken during the running of the blondes in the back yard this weekend. Much like the running of the bulls, but much less of a public spectacle and lower risk of injury. That and more tennis balls. And the white spots on the photo, falling snow. Always gets everyone excited.

For some reason this photo makes me think that I have a full herd of dogs racing across the plains of North America.

Upgrade

Agnes on the double puppy beds. They get stacked like this when we vacuum, then are the most popular thing in the house. But somehow Aggie almost always ends up with it to herself.

Dave: Aggie, looks like you’ve got a good puppy bed situation going there.
Agnes: Sure do. One puppy bed is good, two puppy beds are way better.
Dave: Wow. Karen is right when she calls you upgrade.
Agnes: I don’t get it.
Dave: Really? I thought it was pretty self evident.
Agnes: Oh. She thinks getting me is an upgrade on the big golden retriever?
Dave: Nope. Bruno’s pretty awesome. Not a comment on him at all.
Agnes: Oh. Then I guess it has to do with how high the puppy bed is that I have to walk up a steep grade to nap. It really is hard work.
Dave: I think it has more to do with you being a rescue puppy that was found outside in winter who then lived in a shelter, but now prefers a double dog bed set-up in front of the fire place.
Agnes: I can’t argue with any of that. But what can I say, I love my comforts.

The Agnes Bunny

Agnes rocking the bunny ears. This girl did come a long way in her first three months of 52 weeks modelling. She still demands that Bruno supervises all of her photo sessions, but is now willing to rock a headband and be across the room from him.

Dave: Agnes, you’re doing such a good job. What a brave girl.
Agnes: Yes I am. Totally rocking this headband.
Dave: Yup. Super brave. You want some treats?
Agnes: Oh boy, am I ever looking forward to my reward from this session.
Dave: Those tiny dog biscuits? I didn’t realize they were such a big deal.
Agnes: Oh, not the biscuits. The other reward from this session.
Dave: Praise, compliments and lots of cuddles?
Agnes: Nope. Something else that you promised.
Dave: The sense of satisfaction from a job well done?
Agnes: Please don’t say that. That’s what you humans say when you don’t have anything budgeted for a real reward.
Dave: Alright, then I’m lost.
Agnes: The bunny that you promised me. I heard you clearly say that we were going to do photos of me “playing with the Easter Bunny”. I love bunnies. When I see them on our walks I go a little nutty trying to play with them. I can’t believe my dream of playing with a bunny is about to come true!
Dave: Oh boy. I think there may be a misunderstanding. What I said was we were going to to a photo of you “playing the Easter Bunny”. The headband ears make you look like the Easter Bunny.
Agnes: Oh. That sucks. Well there’s only one way to clear up this situation. Off to the pet store to find a bunny!
