Ah, the start of a new year means the start of another new photo project.  Eva is going to be doing the more relaxed monthly project, with 1-4 photos every month.  Can’t keep her away from the camera as I think she’s convinced that it bakes cookies with how excited she gets when it comes out.  These photos show her napping, watching birds and her virtual attendance at an Arizona Coyotes game.

A Flare for Napping

The first photo of January was not that exciting.  Just a good long nap on a bench in the sunny bay window.  Gave me a little bit of lens flare to play with.

A Bird’s Eye View

Her second photo of January was Eva doing one of her favorite things.  Keeping an eye on the park.  For this vantage point she used my daughter’s bed looking over the trees to watch everything happening below her perch.

Julia: Eva, are you taking over my bed?
Eva: Not all the time. I just reserve the rights to use it and the air space above it during daylight hours.
Julia: Can I ask why?
Eva: Birds. Always Birds.
Julia: I thought you watched the birds from the main floor windows.
Eva: Oh but I do. But what is amazing is how different birds look when you’re above them. Completely mesmerizing.
Julia: I guess that’s true.
Eva: On a completely unrelated note, how fast do trees grow?
Julia: I don’t have an exact number, but I do think it’s pretty slow and perhaps not at all in the winter.
Eva: Oh. I guess I can wait until spring.
Julia: For what?
Eva: For that branch the birds are sitting on to get really close to the window.
Julia: Now that makes sense.
Eva: Can I ask you one more completely unrelated question?
Julia: Sure.
Eva: How do I open the window?

In Stark Contrast

February’s photo “in stark contrast” was of her in the yard.  The snow provided a great high contrast background for her to do her thing.  Watching something with great intensity.

Arizona Coyotes

The last photo of February “Arizona Coyotes” was while we were on a family vacation in Phoenix.  The dogs had to stay in Saskatoon, so they missed out on the hiking, swimming, and hockey game. But, I don’t think they mind as they stayed with a friend of ours who treats them like gold and has another four dogs for them to play with as well. Plus Eva has decided that she is a lap dog and tries to spend as much time as possible on Stacey’s lap getting cuddles. They lead a good life.

I had taken a photo of Eva looking at a Looney Tunes roadrunner picture before travel to use in her project. But, I accidentally deleted it so Stacey was kind enough to text me one of Eva from her place. The annoyed look in Eva’s eyes is likely because she had to get off her lap for the photo.

Eva: What are you humans up to?
Dave: Well, while in Phoenix we decided to take in an Arizona coyotes game.
Eva: Seriously? Coyotes? Those things aren’t even domesticated. What kind of game could they do, they don’t even know how to fetch.
Dave: It’s a hockey team.
Eva: Oh, I never saw that coming. Never expected them to wear skates.
Dave: It’s not actual coyotes playing, it’s a human team named the coyotes.
Eva: Oh. That does make a bit of sense.
Dave: Just a bit? In what way?
Eva: Skill level. I imagine those humans would be better at hockey. And I assume they chose the name coyotes to try and scare the opponents a bit.
Dave: Likely.
Eva: But if they really wanted to intimidate, they should have called themselves the “brittany spaniels”.  We’re fast, smart, and unpredictable. One time I even bit Bruno in the butt after he knocked me over while I was pooping. He never did that again.
Dave: Retaliatory butt biting is not a part of hockey. It would get you ejected from the game.
Eva: Oh. But body checking, shoving, and firing a frozen rubber disc at high speeds towards the other team is all acceptable? I’ll never understand you humans.
